Warlord Games Rorke's Drift Project

Been awhile since my last post. I have been painting slowly but surely and of course life seems to interject into my hobby time. Below are some pictures of my current project, the Warlord Games Rorke's Drift battle set. I am almost done with just three figures to go, one main building, and some incidentals. Here are some of the figures I have finished recently. The first few in formation are not from the boxed set but make for a nice addition to the over all collection. These are really detailed and beautiful sculpts in 28mm. I was missing a gun for the guy on the front row wiping the sweat from his head. I used a musket from the Wargames Factory War of Spanish Succession figures. Luckily most of his hand covers the firing mechanism so it doesn't stand out too badly.

The next few are from the Warlord Games Heroes of Rorke's Drift, both the historical and non-historical sets. I elected to paint the movie version figures in the same type of uniforms as seen in the film. So the green around the collar is a solid piece with no white border and the shoulder boards are solid green with a white border rather than red with a white border. Three figures to go and the figure side of the project is done for awhile. I do have army boxes of both British and Zulus for later.

Below you can see the basic layout of the project. I am just posting two pictures to give a rough idea of how things are progressing and when it is all done I will do a complete post just on the whole enchilada. I still have one building to paint, the thatch roofs need to be painted, some of the smaller buildings outside the perimeter need paint as well as the wagon and water cart. I have tried to keep the general layout as close as I can to Rorke's Drift given the space and pieces I have. The trees were not in those locations during the battle, they are just artistic license. The solid gray rocks were not there either, but rather are part of my Games Workshop game boards. I also recently received the doors and frames for the two large buildings and will be putting those in soon. After that and three more figures its complete!
